good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night.
life is good when the parents leave you home alone for a week. this feeling of freedom washes over you. not like an anarchical freedom, but more of an "ahhhh the house to myself with no one nagging me"-independant/responsible feeling. i quite enjoy it. yesterday i biked downtown to open up a bank account at cibc and deposit the cheque i got in the mail for helping out with the summer solstice party last month. seeing in how i'm broke, getting that money as soon as possible would be a good thing. though i do get paid on monday, and straight cash is certainly quicker than cheques. after my account was all opened up and ready to go, i biked back home and just vegged out. you know, takin it easy for the rest of us.
i called ryley up, but there was no answer, so at about six (with nothing better to do) i biked down to work to check out my schedule for this week. every night from sunday to thursday. it started raining the second i got on my bike and i was a drowned rat by the time i got to the theatre. i ended up helping serve customers for the first show, and just hung around and talked to people for the rest of the shift. in there somewhere i learned how to thread the projectors with cory and for a good hour i laid on the couch in wanda's office and talked with her and her friend (and took abuse for my "atrocious" writing on the stock sheets). but abuse or no, i definitely don't mind hanging around with wanda.
after the shift, at about 10:15 she started spraying us with a water gun she had up in her office left over from the parade. what she didn't know was that there were another 6 or so guns in the back that i had stashed. i filled them up and gave one to each person working there and we cornered her in the pop room and just soaked her head to toe. good times, even if she does get me back whenever i work with her next. cory gave joey a lift home and then we headed up to my place and ate some frozen pizza (which was surprizingly good) and watched office space. near the end of the movie we decided to go for a drive, pickup some pop and see who we could see. we tried robbie's place but he wasn't home, so we just went to the mac's up in timberlea where i counted out $3.63 in small change and got two 2L's of pop at one in the morning. good ol' 24 hour service. on the way home we saw mike walking and picked him up to go finish office space and watch can't hardly wait. i made popcorn and we barely even watched the movies, just talked about nothing. after can't hardly wait mike went home and cory and i crashed.
we woke up at about 2 and cory went home to find someone with money so he would have gas to get himself to work tonight. i made myself lunch and now i'm debating whether to go take a nap and sleep the day away or go out and do something. i guess i'll get back to you on that one.
farewell.
rainy weather sucks. i like the rain, especially thunderstorms, but when it's raining almost everyday on and off it's really annoying. i mean jeez, i don't live in vancouver. c'mon! *sigh*
i've been keeping busy this past weekend. i've been working like crazy, including being on a float for the canada day parade. us theatre workers had to be in costume, some character from an recent or upcoming movie. i chose bruce banner because some other guy was gonna go as the hulk but he bailed so my costume wasn't as exciting. i was pleased with my boss, wanda's costume. she wanted to do a tomb raider thing, so i went out and put it all together with helpful assistance from coworker brian. i picked up a sky blue tank top, very short beige shorts, water guns and some black belt fabric to make the cool gun holster for her leg. the costume was perfect (wanda looked very hot). after i finished up my shift sunday night, a few guys decided we should go watch a movie, and since the fireworks were rained out, i called up ryley to see if he wanted to come. he had walked up to my house right after he got off work, which meant by the time the movie was over he had been away from home for around 8 hours. cory gave us a ride to ryley's and he found out that his house had been robbed. computer, playstation2, and possibly jewellwry had been stolen and lots of shelves had been rummaged through. very shitty.
by the time the police left and cory gave me and ryley a ride to my house, it was almost time to get up for the parade. a half an hour of sleep later me and ryley were downing coffee on the way from timmy ho's to the theatre to quickly get into costume and hop on the float. the parade was fun, i'd never been in one before. about 10 minutes into it the sun broke free and it turned into a gorgeous day. since we had such agood turn out and since we won 1st place in the float judging contest, the district manager linda called up the men in charge and got us a terminator 3/pizza party for monday night. pretty kick ass. i wasdouble shifted after the parade so in between shifts i just slept on the couch in wanda's office. the next day (wednesday) i slept in until at least 2, catching up on sleep. that night i saw the hulk with dustin, his g/f and mike. it wasa good show but it didn't really come together at the end and there wasn't enough of san fransisco in it. i chatted with my coworkers afterwards and sara, cory, and i went upto sara's to watch the ring. she was so scared. i kinda felt bad after it was over. she was shaking. i certainly didn't lose sleep over it though, i slept in late again today. now i'm off to make myself something food-like and figure out what i'm going to do today.
farewell
have fun in cali, dom. missin you.
happy 1st birthday, debut!
it seems that this summer will be quite an eventful one. each day so far seems to be chalk-full of things to do. tomorrow i work from noon until 10PM (with a long break). once i get home from work, ryley is going to show up at my door and we will make the trek to the top of a cliff that overhangs the athabasca river. it should be the best vantage point in the city for watching the fireworks at midnight. we'll miss the bandstand, but it's never anything exciting anyways, especially since lead nikkel isn't playing.
i'm double-shifted for tuesday aswell, no rest for the wicked, but at least i have the rest of the week off. hopefully soon me and ryley can do some serious hiking and perhaps a little camping. i'm really looking forward to getting into the wilderness around ft. mac, but it's harder to get yourself out there whilst alone. ah well, plans will be made soon enough. ryleys got enough on his mind right now, why add to it unneccessarily, right? right.
hmm, that's about all i can think of... oh except for the fact that sheryl crow does a horrible cover of 'd'yer mak'er'. that woman surely knows how to butcher a led zeppelin classic, letmetellyou. in fact, of all the covers on this zeppelin tribute cd (entitled 'encomium') i recently obtained, 'thank you' performed by DURAN DURAN (pause for effect) is the best one. it's a strange world we live in.
farewell and goodnight.
